Board, Commission, Committee Vacant Positions:

When there are board, commission or committee (BCC) positions available, they will be listed under the News section on the city website. As vacancies open throughout the year, you may check this section periodically or sign up for automatic notification of the BCC vacancies through eNotification.

Regular term expiration dates of BCC members are bi-annual, as follows:

March 31: Arts Commission; Board of Adjustment; Code Enforcement Board; Planning Commission; and Parks and Recreation Commission; applications will be posted for open positions starting at the end of January each year

For positions marked as "Open until filled", please note that applications will be reviewed in batches every two weeks. Applicants selected for interviews will be contacted directly.

September 30: Americans with Disabilities Act Citizens Review Committee; Economic Development Committee; Library Board; Lodging Tax Advisory Committee; Personnel Committee; and Utility Advisory Committee; applications will be posted for open positions starting at the end of July of each year

Current Open Positions:

Personnel Committee

Monitors the administration and grading of competitive examinations and hears appeals on any disciplinary action resulting in suspension, demotion, reduction in pay or termination, any alleged violation of the established personnel plan related specifically to hiring or promotional opportunities, and any challenge to the reasonableness of the appointing authority’s actions related to a reduction in force.

Except for membership on the police pension board, in accordance with RCW 41.20.010, and the firefighters' pension board, in accordance with RCW 41.16.020, and except for employees serving ex officio, no employee, during his or her term of service in city employment, shall be eligible, or be appointed, to serve on any city board, committee or commission performing an advisory function to the city council.
