Net Metering

Customers wanting to participate in Richland Energy Services (RES) Net Metering Program must follow these steps:

  1. Applicant must review the Instructions prior to completing a Renewable Energy Application.
  2. Applicants must pay the Net Metering Application Fee of $150 prior to submitting the application. Invoices can be paid on the City of Richland Permit Portal. The Paid Invoice Summary receipt is a required attachment in the application process.
  3. The applicant will receive a confirmation email that the application has been successfully submitted with a link to check the status of the application.
  4. The property owner/homeowner will receive an email notification to sign the application.
  5. Once all signatures are acquired, the application is sent to the Engineer for review and approval of the design and metering system.
  6. The net metering application fee must be paid prior to the customer connecting to the City's distribution system. Fees can be paid on the City of Richland Permit Portal.
  7. Net Metering customers will receive a separate monthly electricity bill with the net metering generation credit, if applicable.
